After nearly a decade of relentless effort, overcoming three location changes, numerous obstacles, and a shifting political landscape, Redbank Communities has successfully achieved the approval for the Grose River Bridge on 11th November 2024. This major milestone represents a monumental and, at times, challenging endeavour by the Redbank team to bring this essential project to fruition.

Plans to provide an additional river crossing have reached a major milestone with the approval of the development application for the Grose River Bridge.

The bridge is being built in partnership between Redbank Communities, Transport for NSW and Hawkesbury City Council as part of a Voluntary Planning Agreement between Redbank and Council.

The bridge and connecting roads will provide a crossing between Grose River Road at Grose Wold with Springwood Road at Yarramundi. Extensive community consultation has been conducted in the finalisation of this plan.

With the finalisation of the development application, the project now moves into the land acquisition phase for the new bridge and road. The land acquisition process is expected to take approximately 18 months, with an 18-month construction program commencing soon after.

The new Grose River bridge will connect Grose River Road with Springwood Road while avoiding the Wilcox property. Redbank Communities will fund the construction of the bridge and its approach roads, while Transport for New South Wales is responsible for acquiring the land needed for the bridge placement and the new connecting road. This project represents an investment of over $30 million from Redbank Communities into the local community.
